Danakil Depression 5 Days Tour From Mekele

 

Day 1 Mekele – Afdera

we drive to Afdera nearly 250km east on the highway Mekele-Djibouti road, one we arrive in Afdera you will visit the big scale salt production and swim in the lake. overnight camping near the lake.

Day 2 : Afdera – Ertale

After break in lake Afdera We drive 2:30 hours to Ertale. O/N camping in ErtaAle

Day 3 : Ertale -Abala

After breakfast in the camp we drivefor 3 hours to Abala. O/N camping In Abala.

Day 4, Abala – Hamedela

Drive for 3 hours to Hamedela to visit the salt flats near Lake Asale. O/N camping in Hamedela.

Day 5 : Hamedela – Dallol – Mekele

After breakfast early in the morning we start our journey, with 45km through Dallol Depression. This Day visit different places like salt lakes (red and black water), the colorful salt lakes and thermo active springs of Dallol, sulfuric acid yellow lakes, potash mountains, colorful hydrotermal mountain of Dallol, the wide white salt desert, a cave and pure natural designed rocks, salt Canyons, and the field where the Tigray and Afar people excavate salt in the traditional way and load it to the camel caravans, finally start the excursion  back to Mekele via Berahale we will stop for lunch in Berahale, at around 4pm we will be in Mekelle.

What To Visit – Lake Afdera, Lake Asle, Dallol, Ertale, Camel Caravans..
