Why Danakil Depression tour from Semera?

The war on the Tigray region and the fact that airports especially the Mekele airport was totally out of service since early 2021 until November 2022. It was later in Nov 2022 the airport was restored to give service fallowing the peace treaty in Pretoria.

Semera is another one even though it is almost 200miles plus to do the entire trip, yet it is the plan B in the tours to the Danakil Depression. 

What to Expect from Danakil depression tour via Semera

The Itinerary

Day 1, Semera – Ertale
At 09:00 am our driver will pick you from Semera airport or from your location in Semera. then drive to Ertale via Lake Afdera. After a lunch break in the Lake Afdera will will turn of the main road and drive to Ertale then  at around 5:30 we will arive at base camp. then after dinner we do a 30 minute trekking to the active volcano laake. O/N in Ertale.

Day 2, Ertale – Lake Asale
In the morning after sunrise in ertale volcano we trekk back to the campsite for breakfast and drive to lake Asale which is only 3 hours driving over looking Borale strato volcano mountains in the horizone an amaizing look of the Danakil Depression then at 5pm we arrive in Lake Asale and the salt flats. sunset in the sult flat is a birth takeing seen and the camel caravans transporting salt. O/N camping in Hamedela near lake Asale.

Day 3, Dallol – Semera

this day is a day to Discover the colorful Dallol mountain volcanos, the salt flats, traditional salt excavetion by the locals, Salt kanyons and swim in lake Asale. then finally after lunch in Lake Asale we will drive back to Semera. End Of Tour.
