Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch – Jinka (Ari Tribe Visit)
Begin your journey with a scenic flight from Addis Ababa to Arba Minch. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed and driven to Jinka, passing through the lush southern highlands of Ethiopia.
On the outskirts of Jinka, enjoy your first cultural encounter with the Ari Tribe, known for their pottery and traditional houses.
Overnight: Hotel in Jinka
Day 2: Mago National Park – Mursi Tribe – Hamar Village
Early morning excursion to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi Tribe, famous for their distinctive lip plates and body decoration.
After immersing in their way of life, travel to the nearby Hamar Tribe, celebrated for their hospitality and elaborate hairstyles.
With some luck, witness the unique bull-jumping ceremony, a rite of passage for Hamar boys (mostly on market days).
Overnight: Camping under the stars in a Hamar village
Day 3: Omorate – Dassenech Tribe – Turmi
Today, head to Omorate, located on the banks of the Omo River. Cross the river by traditional dugout canoe to visit the Dassenech Tribe, known for their semi-nomadic lifestyle.
Return to Turmi and, if you missed any ceremonies earlier, we’ll continue the search for local festivals or tribal gatherings.
Overnight: Hotel in Turmi
Day 4: Turmi – Konso Village – Arba Minch – Addis Ababa
Drive back to Arba Minch, with a stop to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Konso Village, renowned for its intricate terracing and wooden totems.
Catch your return flight to Addis Ababa, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel—or continue your adventure to the Bale Mountains or Danakil Depression.
